Instagram destination guide launch!

We are making a destination guide with a difference! Our new guides will be complete visual and inspired by pictures taken and shared within the bmibaby community.

Everybody enjoys taking photos when they are out exploring Europe’s wonderful cities and everybody enjoys sharing their images and memories of holidays with friends and family.

Here at bmibaby we want to take this love of sharing your experiences and fond memories to the next level. We want to help you to find new and exciting things to do in cities and who better to learn from then the people who have been there and experienced a holiday destination or even live there themselves!

Our visual destination guides

Many of our 39 destinations have hidden secrets that often escape the schedules of busy holiday makers. We want to help you discover these places.

We have been working with you to collect a huge gallery of images of some of our favourite destinations and to create a destination guide with a difference. We don’t want you to have to scroll through huge destination guide books – we want you to instantly get a feel for a destination – visually!

Over the next few months we will be working to create a huge library of images to share with you so you can actually see what you could experience when you go on holiday! We want to inspire you and offer you tips for your future trips and of course invite you to share your experiences with your fellow travellers too.

Bringing bmibaby destinations to life using Instagram

Instagram is a popular photo sharing site, which also publishes to Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Tumblr too. Instagram allows you to add various filters to photos – making anybody look like they can take pro snaps!

Each month we will be focusing on a different bmibaby destination and asking both locals and bmibaby customers to use Instagram to submit photo entries which they feel portray the beauty, traditions, culture, people, cuisine and landscapes of the given country or city.  These images will be used to bring our destinations to life!

Italy destination guide

As you may know, last month we ran a compeition using Instagram to find beautiful images of Italy. People submitted their favourite images of Italy using the hashtag #miaitalia. The competition ran for a month. For the first three weeks finalists were selected and in the final week a public vote was held to find your ultimate image of Italy and the lucky winner recieved a pair of flights to Italy!

Although the winning image was very beautiful, we were highly impressed with the quality and standard of all 3,000+ images we recieved. People from far and wide shared their images of Italy and now we want to share them with you too.

We have produced a fantastic guide of Italy using everybody’s pictures which is now availble here.

If you still have images of Italy you wish to share with the community, then please continue to post your images, tagging them #miaitalia and they will be automatically added to the destiantion guide for all to see!

Germany destination guide

On Friday, we also announced that we are collecting photos for a new destination – Germany, using the hashtag #mygermany!

Getting involved is easy – to enter the competition, upload your favourite pictures, tagging them with #mygermany and #bmibabygram – it’s as easy at that!

By tagging your picture with #mygermany, consent is given to bmibaby use your Instagram image in a crowdsourced guide to Germany.

Again as a thank you to all entrants, we will be using these images to create a visual destination guide to share with you!
